About Jersey City Youth Planning Task Force (YPTF)
The core mission of the YPTF is to offer community based solutions and strategies that support positive youth development and reduce juvenile delinquency in Jersey City. The Youth Planning Task Force is one of several municipal youth planning boards across the state funded by the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.
YPTF focuses on youth and young adults between the ages 12-24 years old in three main areas:
- Reduction of violent and risky behaviors
- Promotion of post-secondary education/training and employment for young adults
- Management of trauma and risky environmental factors through a focus on youth social/emotional development
New Jersey City University facilitates and partners with the Youth Planning Task Force and conducts the research and data analysis necessary to support the development of policy and program recommendations.
Members of the YPTF represent a broad group of stakeholders from the community who work together to map community assets, identify gaps in services, research best practices, and develop strategies for expansion of, and collaboration between, existing programs and initiatives.
